Cap Brun

Cap Brun is where Toulon begins to feel quieter and more residential. Located east of Mourillon, the area stretches towards a rugged Mediterranean coastline of rocky coves, pine trees and sea views.

This is not the part of Toulon I would choose for a first hour in the city. It is better once you have seen the harbour and Old Town and want to discover a less obvious coastal side.

A different kind of coastline

Unlike the organised beaches at Mourillon, parts of the coast around Cap Brun feel more rugged. Small coves and rocky sections create a very different atmosphere from a conventional resort beach.

Good footwear is useful if you plan to explore coastal paths, and access can vary, so pay attention to signs and local restrictions rather than assuming every path leads to a public swimming spot.

Slow Toulon down

Cap Brun is best approached without a checklist. Walk, enjoy the views and stop when somewhere looks inviting. A car can make reaching different parts of the area easier, although local transport and walking can work depending on your starting point.

If Mourillon demonstrates how closely beach life connects with the city, Cap Brun shows the quieter Mediterranean landscape just beyond it. Together they make a good half-day away from central Toulon.
