Toulon Cable Car

The cable car up Mont Faron is one of Toulon’s signature experiences. In just a short journey, you leave the city streets behind and climb towards the limestone mountain that dominates the skyline.

The real attraction is the view. From above, Toulon’s enormous natural harbour suddenly makes sense, with the city squeezed between the Mediterranean and the surrounding hills.

Check before you go

The cable car is weather-dependent and does not operate under every condition or throughout every period of the year. Before building your day around it, check the current operating information.

On a clear day, I would try to go when visibility is good rather than simply choosing the most convenient hour. The panorama is the reason you are making the journey.

Do more than ride up and down

Mont Faron deserves more than a quick photograph from the top. Walking routes and viewpoints allow you to spend additional time on the mountain, and the landscape feels surprisingly removed from the busy port below.

If you are visiting without a car, the cable car is also a particularly appealing way to experience Toulon from above. Combine it with a relaxed morning or afternoon rather than trying to race back for another attraction. The journey itself is part of what makes Mont Faron memorable.
