Toulon in Spring

Enjoy mild Mediterranean weather, colourful markets, beautiful coastal walks and the relaxed atmosphere of Toulon before the busy summer season begins.

Spring is a wonderful time to visit Toulon, a charming port city on the French Mediterranean coast. As temperatures rise and the days become longer, the city comes alive with outdoor cafés, colourful flowers and a relaxed atmosphere.

From March to May, Toulon offers an excellent combination of sightseeing, nature and traditional Provençal culture without the intense heat of summer.

Explore the Old Town and Its Markets

Start your day in Toulon’s historic centre, where narrow streets lead to small squares, independent shops and traditional cafés.

Visit the famous Cours Lafayette market, where local vendors sell fresh vegetables, seasonal fruit, flowers and regional specialities.

Spring is a lovely time to explore the market before enjoying a coffee at a nearby café.

Enjoy the Views from Mont Faron

One of my favourite recommendations for a spring visit is Mont Faron, the mountain overlooking Toulon.

Take the cable car to the summit and enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the city, its harbour and the Mediterranean coastline.

Spring temperatures are particularly suitable for exploring the mountain’s walking trails.

Remember to check the cable car’s operating schedule before your visit.

Discover Toulon’s Beaches

Although the Mediterranean may still feel cool for swimming, spring is a beautiful season for exploring Toulon’s coastline.

The beaches at Le Mourillon offer pleasant seaside walks, attractive views and plenty of opportunities to relax in the sunshine.

On warmer days, you may even be tempted to take your first swim of the year.

A Perfect Season for Exploring

Spring is also an excellent time to discover nearby coastal villages and enjoy outdoor activities without the busiest summer crowds.

My tip: Visit Toulon in late April or May if you want to combine sightseeing, coastal walks and outdoor dining. Bring a light jacket for cooler evenings and enjoy the city at a relaxed Mediterranean pace.
